A key Optimus client is seeking a Manager level professional for their commodities Structuring team. This team is part of a broader commercial analytics function which also includes fundamentals, transmission analysis and asset performance analytics. Structuring includes a significant portfolio of power transactions including load following transactions at the C&I level.
Responsibilities:
- Strong knowledge of complex power transactions including tolling and full requirements term power supply
- Experience breaking down the risk components of structured transactions for valuation
- Working with commercial teams to determine an effective hedge program for structured transactions
- Developing, maintaining and improving models
- Working with Origination to support pricing and modeling of new transaction types
- Providing analytical support for back testing of transactions for pricing effectiveness
- Assisting in special projects as needed
Requirements:
- 5 or more years' experience in energy commodities with at least 2 in structuring
- Strong knowledge of the power markets including tolling and full requirements load following transaction characteristics
- Experience in one of more ISOs in North America
- Strong modeling and technical skills with VBA, R, Python, SQL or similar technologies
- Excellent communication and organization skills with the ability to manage competing and concurrent deadlines
- A bachelor's degree in a business discipline with an advanced degree a plus
