Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (35 hours/week)
Location - In person with site visits in Suffolk County.
Pay Type: Non-exempt
Responsibilities
The Building Mechanic will perform general maintenance functions and minor repairs at the residences in a professional manner. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that the buildings operate efficiently, and that the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

Options for Community Living, Inc. is looking for a Building Mechanic to join our team! An ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Experience in various types of general maintenance work including minor electrical repair, minor plumbing, painting, and general maintenance duties and skills in crafts, such as plumbing, or carpentry.
- Must have access to tools. Will be required to use own tools for work.
- Must have access to a truck or work van. Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, valid auto insurance and access to a vehicle is required.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must have a friendly demeanor and have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Familiarity using a tablet, such as an iPad, to communicate by email and keep track of work is preferred.
- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish speaking).

Responsibilities
The Building Mechanic will perform general maintenance functions and minor repairs at the residences in a professional manner. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that the buildings operate efficiently, and that the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Ensure health, safety, and energy efficiency at residences on a regular basis.
- Perform general maintenance mechanic work such as carpentry, wall repair, and minor plumbing repairs.
- Respond appropriately to work orders for minor repairs on a daily/weekly basis.
- Perform general maintenance of the residences such as caulking tubs, bush/hedge trimming, replacing blinds, and power-washing exterior of homes.
- Prepare and make repairs to the residence as needed before new tenants move in.
- Paint interior as needed.
- Repair broken windows. Install doors as needed.
- Install smoke/carbon detectors, locks, and bathroom rails as needed. Master locks as needed.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies on a monthly basis or as needed.
- Perform general maintenance mechanic tasks as part of a working team to rehabilitate houses with multiple repair needs on an occasional basis.
- May instruct clients on certain maintenance procedures or oversee clients who routinely assist with grounds keeping and other maintenance chores.
- Pick up supplies from retail stores and transport material from site to site as needed.
- Complete basic administrative tasks including, but not limited to, work orders, receipts, mileage forms, safety inspection reports, etc.
