$5,000 Hiring Bonus (Prorated by FTE)

Overview
The Insurance Assistor helps clients in the clinic and in the community with completing applications for health care benefits including OHP (Medicaid) and other insurance options. May complete program screenings, provides education on services and gathers relevant information from individuals and external customer service by phone and in person as part of the Support Services team. Gathers basic health care information and data from client. Provides administrative functions to clinic. Training provided.
Responsibilities
Assists individuals seeking services with completing required paperwork.
Assists clients with Options financial agreements and setting up payment plans.
Verifies clients’ private insurance coverage and works closely with insurance providers to determine type of services covered.
Responds to phone and in-person questions and concerns from community and those seeking services.
Explains available services to clients seeking care.
Greets and assists mental health clients and visitors.
Schedules client appointments.
Makes referrals to other programs and health care providers.
Develops knowledge of agency’s departments and services; directs clients and callers to the appropriate resource.
Assists with special projects or other departmental activities.
Reviews documents, photocopies, collates, and assembles documents as needed.
Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment with a high degree of flexibility required.
High school diploma or equivalent and a general understanding of the population served. Some post-secondary coursework preferred. Possess medical or human service business experience sufficient to meet the demands of the position, including proficiency with a variety of software applications.
Candidates must be able to use e-mail, compose documents, save and locate documents electronically, and learn to use our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Proficiency in Word and other MS Office applications preferred.
Must pass state-required background and DMV checks. Candidate must be able to work independently and flexibly, under general supervision.
