What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at OptiTrack?
The Production Planner is responsible for reviewing MRP demand against material availability to create a weekly production plan. The production plan is used to smooth the utilization of production resources and to commit to customer ship schedules. The Production Planner creates D365 Work Orders and provides prioritization to Warehouse personnel for kit pulling tasks. In addition to planning production, the Production Planner works with Engineering to review material and schedules NPI and Engineering Project builds that require production resources. The Production Planner will work with Operations Management, Supply Chain to assure schedules are met and Customer Satisfaction is maintained.

Essential Functions:
- Maintain Weekly Build Plan, update as often as necessary to capture changes in demand and material availability
- Work with Production Lead to fine tune and prioritize daily production activities
- Work with Supply Chain on material shortages/recovery plans
- Attend NPI project review meetings providing input on production support planning
- Coordinate Engineering Builds, material transactions
- Track and report on production time utilization
- Update Labor Standard vs Actual Metrics charts each month
- Fine tune labor reporting sheets and completion reporting to improve accuracy of Standard vs Actual
- Product shipment commitments to Inside Sales team
- Serves a key role in Year End Physical Inventory activities
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience working in a manufacturing operations environment doing production planning and scheduling using an ERP system required.
- Preference for prior experience with Microsoft D365
- Experience using a personal computer with a Windows operating system
- Demonstrated superior written, graphical and verbal communication skills essential.
- Demonstrated understanding of supply chain and production process flows required.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and to think and act innovatively.
- Demonstrated self-motivation required.
- Proven success multi-tasking in a busy/noisy production environment
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Physical ability to use computer hardware/software required
- Some lifting (up to 30 lbs.). Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
