Job Title: Sous Chef
$18-$25 per hour
Location: New York, NY
About Us: A New Mediterranean restaurant, bringing a vibrant Mediterranean dining experience to Manhattan. We are seeking experienced and passionate Line Cooks to run our kitchen and help bring fresh and modern dishes to our guests.
Position Overview: As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of dishes while ensuring the highest culinary standards. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a new restaurant opening and make a lasting impact on our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Control: Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety in compliance with health regulations.
- Culinary Standard: Preparing and executing dishes set by the Executive Chef and CDC in a timely fashion to ensure a smooth service. Demonstrating knowledge of dishes on and off your station.
- Inventory Management: Minimizing waste and employing a systematic use of ingredients to move product in an efficient fashion.
- Communication: Keeps consistent and calm communication with fellow staff members in a respectable manner. Working with the rest of the kitchen team to bring orders on time.
- Cleanliness Standard: Keep station and kitchen clean and up to health code at all times.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role in a high-volume restaurant.
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Leadership skills with the ability to take and follow orders.
- Exceptional palate and creativity in dish presentation and flavor combinations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
- Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Certification in NYC Food Protection License recommended.
