Sr. Network Engineer
Optomi, in partnership with a leader within the energy industry, is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join their St. Petersburg, FL office! This Sr. Network Engineer will have experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining LAN, WAN, and WLAN networks. The ideal candidate will lead and manage complex data network engineering projects from conception through implementation, as well as create detailed engineering packages and network diagrams using Visio for field technicians. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for configuring and deploying routers, switches, and firewalls to troubleshoot and resolve networking issues. This Network Engineer will manage and monitor network environments using tools such as SolarWinds Orion, Cisco ISE, and Bluecat IPAM!

Experience of the right candidate:
- 7-10 years of hands-on experience as a Senior Data Network Engineer, capable of working independently on complex technical tasks.
- Proven ability to write detailed engineering/job packages for implementation by other technical teams, including installation guides and network configuration plans.
- Successfully managed multiple concurrent projects with defined timelines and deliverables.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly convey technical concepts via phone, email, and messaging platforms to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration, effectively communicating results and recommendations to leadership and peers without technical backgrounds.
- High proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining LAN, WAN, and WLAN network infrastructures and technologies.
- In-depth understanding of enterprise networking, including architecture, scalability, and resiliency best practices.
- Advanced knowledge of routing protocols, including route advertisement, route filtering, and redistribution of routing information.
- Strong analytical mindset with proven troubleshooting capabilities in large-scale network environments.
- Solid foundation in firewall technologies, with the ability to modify network policies, analyze firewall logs, and validate routing and connectivity.
- Working knowledge of underlay/overlay network technologies and protocols such as GRE, IPsec tunneling, DMVPN, and SD-WAN.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Visio to develop detailed network diagrams and construction packages with Bill of Materials (BOM) for field technicians.
- Experience with network monitoring tools, including SolarWinds Orion, for proactive performance and fault management.
- Skilled in utilizing command-line interfaces, web-based administration consoles, and various network/system management tools.
- Familiar with enterprise network services and tools such as Cisco ISE, SolarWinds Orion, and BlueCat IPAM.
- Conducted NERC CIP compliance work, including adding/removing network devices and processing change requests (Footprints) for configuration updates.

- Ensure strict adherence to federally mandated regulations and internal business compliance requirements throughout all phases of network operations.
- Uphold the security, reliability, and integrity of the data network that supports critical Electric Grid infrastructure.
- Collaborate directly with business partners and stakeholders to lead projects involving the design and implementation of complex data network solutions.
- Configure and deploy routers and switches using standardized provisioning templates, while also developing custom configurations for non-standard or emerging deployment needs.
