Summary
The Director of Sales (HD) directly manages the heavy-duty sales team responsible for performing the below essential duties and responsibilities. The heavy-duty sales team is responsible for establishing new business, maintaining current business relationships, achieving budgeted sales, controlling expenses to budgeted levels, and coordinating efforts with all departments within the organization.
This is an on-site position based out of our Tulsa, OK office. Optronics offers a competitive compensation package including bonus potential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develops and implements strategic sales plans to achieve corporate budgets and goals.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets team and individual performance goals accordingly.
- Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to manage, develop and lead the heavy-duty sales team.
- Manages independent sales representatives through the heavy-duty sales team direct reports.
- Meets with key customers, assisting sales managers and representatives with maintaining relationships, negotiating and closing deals, and / or conducting training.
- Reviews market data and analyses to determine customer needs, market opportunities and threats
- Directs AM and OEM channel development activity and coordinates the heavy-duty sales team by establishing sales territories, plans and goals.
- Assigns AM and OEM sales territories to sales managers and representatives.
- Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assist customers in promoting sales.
- Represents company at trade association meetings and tradeshows as well as customer tradeshows.
- Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales managers and representatives.
- Coordinates and facilitates activity and communication between the heavy-duty sales team and other departments (e.g., Product Development, Customer Service, Marketing, etc.)
- Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume, analysis, areas of new business acquisition and recommended courses of action.
- Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises management employees in the AM and OEM heavy-duty Sales Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policy and goals. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and / or Experience
A bachelor’s degree; 8-10 years of sales experience and at least 3-5 years of related sales people management experience
Knowledge
Knowledge of the Heavy Duty OEM and aftermarket markets. Knowledge of the lighting industry and markets preferred.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and the ability to use Internet software and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Experience with Inventory software such as CRM and SAP preferred.
