POSITION PURPOSE :

The role of the Commercial Due Diligence Underwriter entails assessing financial and operational viability of potential investment opportunities for organizations. This role involves evaluating various aspects of a target company's business, financials, market position, and industry trends to provide informed recommendations to stakeholders. The Commercial Due Diligence Underwriter is responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and research to uncover any potential risks or opportunities associated with an investment opportunity.

IDEAL CANDIDATES :

To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and research skills. Ability to be meticulous in reviewing documents and materials to ensure accuracy and completeness. Demonstrates integrity, discretion, and ethical judgement when handling sensitive financial and legal information. Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines in a fast past environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Financial Analysis : Conduct thorough financial analysis, including reviewing historical financial statements, projections, and cash flow models to assess the target company's financial performance and potential risks.
  • Market Research : Research and analyze the target company's industry, market trends, competitive landscape, and growth prospects to evaluate its market position and identify potential opportunities and threats.
  • Operational Assessment : Evaluate the target company's operational processes, supply chain, production capabilities, and overall business operations to identify operational efficiencies, potential bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Risk Assessment : Identify and assess potential risks associated with the investment opportunity, including financial, operational, regulatory, and market-related risks. Provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
  • Due Diligence Reporting : Prepare comprehensive due diligence reports outlining the findings, analysis, and recommendations based on the assessment of the target company. Present the reports to senior management and investment committees.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including legal, financial, and investment professionals, to gather information, validate findings, and ensure comprehensive due diligence is conducted.
  • Client Communication : Interact with clients, investors, and external parties to explain the due diligence process, share findings, and address any queries or concerns.
  • Recommendations : Based on the analysis conducted, provide well-informed recommendations on whether to proceed with the investment, modify terms, negotiate adjustments, or decline the opportunity.
  • Documentation : Maintain accurate records, documents, and databases related to due diligence findings and processes.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND JOB SKILLS :

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical skills : Analytical skills are the ability to break down large amounts of information into smaller, more manageable pieces. As a commercial real estate underwriter, you may be required to analyze large amounts of data, such as financial statements, to determine the viability of a property. Your analytical skills can help you to identify potential risks and challenges that may affect the property's value.
  • Communication skills : Commercial real estate underwriters communicate with a variety of people throughout the day, including clients, colleagues, real estate agents and other professionals. Effective communication skills can help you build trust with others, share information and ideas and resolve conflicts. You can also use communication skills to help you explain complex financial concepts to clients.
  • Attention to detail : Attention to detail is the ability to notice small changes in information. As a commercial real estate underwriter, you may be reviewing large amounts of data, so it's important to notice any inconsistencies or errors. This can help you provide accurate information to your employer and ensure the company makes sound financial decisions.
  • Travel Requirements :

    Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to use computer keyboard and monitor for extended periods of time.
