What are the responsibilities and job description for the Station Manager for Maryland vehicle emissions (VEIP) position at Opus Inspection?
Envirotest, the operating subsidiary of Opus Inspection, a worldwide provider of vehicle emissions testing equipment and services, is currently looking for a full-time Station Manager for our Westminster, Maryland inspection facility.
Position Duties:
- Manage and coordinate the operation of the inspection station within budget and in accordance with Envirotest's policies and procedures
- Hire competent station personnel, and provide in-depth on-the-job training to each employee as well as periodic remedial training
- Supervise staff (e.g. counsel and discipline employees as needed, evaluates performance of employees, schedule work assignments to ensure proper staffing for various traffic volumes, etc.)
- Understand the function of selected emission control devices and perform visual inspections of such devices in a timely and reliable manner
- Administer and control facility forms and supplies
- Report weekly/monthly operation activity and extraordinary activity to the district manager in a timely manner
- Coordinate general facility maintenance including painting, snow removal, grounds keeping and janitorial upkeep
- Implement the station's safety program to ensure employee and customer safety
- Complete all administrative paperwork related to operations, finance, technical support and human resources
- Conduct emissions tests as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the district manager and/or operations manager
Minimum Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of test procedures
- 1 - 3 years' supervisory experience required
- Bachelors degree in Business Management or related field is desirable
- Excellent customer service skills and previous cash-handling experience required
- Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and in writing
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communications
- Excellent organization skills with keen attention to detail
- Must be able to communicate politely with the general public
- Proficient PC skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling and crouching, 50%-80% of the time
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold weather conditions
- Ability to enter and exit vehicles, 50%-80% of the time
