Job Summary:
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for designing, reviewing, and optimizing manufacturing and assembly processes for both new and revised product designs.
This role involves developing innovative processes to meet product and manufacturing specifications, managing industrialization projects with external manufacturers, and ensuring alignment with overall business strategies.
The Senior Manager will create project plans, manage resources, train stakeholders, and collaborate across departments such as R&D, Quality, and IT.
Additionally, the Senior Manager will monitor and report on project progress, contribute to supplier selection and strategic sourcing, and oversee the management of critical manufacturing data.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers, Technicians, Engineering Drafter, and CNC programmers.
- Collaborate with operations managers and Plant leadership to set and assess priorities across teams.
- Assess cost effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes; make and implement recommendations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Develop tooling strategies, designs, and manufacturing methods to reduce variable tooling costs and improve product quality.
- Create and support CAPEX project planning and submissions.
- Provide guidance and oversight in development and execution of plant renovations and expansions, coordinate outside contractors and vendors.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining Machine programming data and files.
- Assist the Maintenance team in TPM programs in achieving World Class machine availability.
- Participate and support plant lean continuous improvement activities to drive operational improvements.
- Drive plant layout improvements to maximize flow of materials and floor space utilization.
- Coordinate and manage functional teams to provide process and manufacturability inputs to designs throughout the product development process.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Integral in supporting plant level make/buy analysis.
- Responsible for process time studies and plant capacity planning.
- Prepare and implement the departmental budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare budgets and records.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software; SolidWorks or other brands.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or equivalent experience in manufacturing engineering field, required.
- At least ten years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- At least ten years of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to wear required PPE.
