If you are an experienced supply chain professional interested in joining a growing organization, ECI has an exciting opportunity for you. Based in Elon, North Carolina, the Purchasing Manager is an integral member of the Supply Chain Team, with a direct report relationship to the Sr. Director Operations.

Scope:

This position is the lead procurement manager responsible for developing and standardizing purchasing activities for ECI’s product lines.

The Purchasing Manager determines and leads implementation of policies and procedures (standard work) for all tactical organizations. In addition to policy implementation, the Purchasing Manager designs and implements training programs for those policies and procedures. Position may also have some specific (tactical) buying responsibilities to support ongoing needs. Position will interface with both global commodity managers and supply chain functions in support of efforts to build strong supplier relationships leading to reduced inventory and improved service.

The position requires a sound understanding of current economic principles to recommend and implement procurement actions and techniques, which result in minimizing total costs and risks.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain systems and procedures, which enable ECI to purchase from suppliers with the best delivery, quality, and total cost performance. Develop policies, procedures, and attitudes, which enable ECI to enter into partnership relationships with our suppliers which foster excellent performance.

• Administers Import Law Compliance Policies to insure compliance with applicable customs import laws.

• Administer formal supplier improvement process to include quantitative supplier performance measures for quality and delivery performance.

• Provide education and training to plant materials and purchasing personnel on current purchasing systems and techniques. Provide guidance and technical assistance when necessary.

• Develop and implement techniques, which maximize purchase value and minimize the risk of unfavorable variances. Coordinate the establishment of our standard costs of purchased materials.

• Purchase project tooling, MRO supplies, and finished goods as required.

Educational Requirements:

• Four year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification in supply chain management preferred.

• Minimum of five years experience in purchasing
• Minimum 3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

• Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.
• Must have functional understanding of cost accounting and adapt to practical application.
• Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand the electronic processing.
• Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
