Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and care to individuals with special needs, including assisting with daily activities and personal care
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Collect data on client progress and behavior using specified methods and tools
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as special education teachers and behavioral health specialists, to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Assist clients in developing essential life skills, such as communication, socialization, and self-care
- Provide transportation for clients to appointments, activities, or community outings
- Create a safe and supportive environment for clients, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and any incidents that occur
Skills:
- Experience or knowledge in special education or caregiving is highly preferred
- Proficiency in data collection methods and techniques
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus
- Strong behavior management skills to effectively address challenging behaviors
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client transportation
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and strategies
- Experience in direct support or childcare roles is beneficial
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with autism or other special needs
