Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mentor to support an 18-year old teen with disabilities, in their personal journey in becoming a make-up artist. Will support in attending her classes 3x a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 11a-5pm. Shift will begin earlier to help prepare for classes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social work, special education, or related fields, will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive environment and love all things make-up. As a Mentor, you will play a crucial role in guiding this young mentee through challenges, helping her build skills, and encouraging her growth.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one mentoring focusing on personal development and goal achievement.
- Ensure class attendance
- Develop individualized plans that cater to the unique needs of the mentee.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages open dialogue and trust.
- Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for mentee.
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to help mentee achieve their goals.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities and understanding their unique needs.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and practices.
- Background in mentoring or coaching individuals, particularly children.
- Strong conflict management skills to effectively address challenges that arise during mentoring sessions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate effective interactions with mentee and stakeholders.
