Salary: Starts at $15.24/hour and increases depending on experience
SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the school Principal to clean the school buildings and grounds in a safe, clean and orderly fashion so that the instructional program for students will operate in an optimum manner to accomplish the mission of the district.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sweep, dust and mop floors, vacuum carpets, dust windows and furniture and shampoo carpets and wax floors when needed.
2. Wipe clean chalkboards and rails.
3. Remove graffiti, gum, candy, etc., from walls and under desks.
4. Empty wastebaskets and other trash containers.
5. Clean window interiors/exteriors.
6. Clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures.
7. Perform minor maintenance repairs.
8. Report any major maintenance needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
9. Lock and secure all areas of campus after cleaning.
10. Comply with district safety rules and regulations and OSHA requirements.
11. Exercise independent judgment
12. Procure, store, distribute and manage custodial supplies and equipment.
13. Assist in the movement of equipment in the classrooms when asked.
14. Maintain neatness of person and display an attitude of friendliness, courtesy, respect and cooperation towards others.
15. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
16. Demonstrate satisfactory work habits and attitudes.
17. Follow district policies and procedures as adopted by the Governing Board.
18. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School graduate.
2. One year of custodial background and experience.
3. Ability to push, pull or lift weight in excess of 50 pounds.
4. Knowledge of modern cleaning methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment.
SCOPE AND SALARY: 260 day position as an at-will hourly employee based on the support staff salary schedule, with holidays, vacation, and benefits according to district policy.
