The Team:
A research internship at Oracle Labs will give you an opportunity to explore complex software research problems in different areas of intelligent application security like software composition analysis, runtime application self-protection, vulnerability detection and remediation, program synthesis, cloud security, supply chain security, threat intelligence etc. You shall be leveraging your existing knowledge in these areas as well as applying skills and techniques in machine learning, program analysis, taint analysis, fuzzing, NLP, synthesis etc. to advance the state of the art, working alongside engineers and researchers at Oracle Labs. You will also have the opportunity to tailor the project to your own experience and academic programme requirements, if any. This is a paid position, remunerated in accordance with industry standards.

CA: Hiring Range in CAD from: $20,500 to $120,000 per annum.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
This job requires proficiency in the English language. As is required of employees in all jobs at Oracle in North America, candidates for this position are required to understand, and communicate, in English so that in the course of performing their work, they can interact with teammates in other locations who are not fluent in the French language.

Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do:
- Work with the project lead and the team to identify interesting research problems that will enhance the existing body of knowledge in the selected area
- Develop research infrastructure that aids rapid experimentation and results capture
- Develop software prototypes as required, to test novel approaches and derive theoretical and practical insights
- Authoring and presentation of technical papers and talks to a wider audience at Oracle Labs
- Collaborate with researchers internally in the chosen research area
- Able to obtain work authorization in Canada
- Position is located in Vancouver, BC, Canada
What You’ll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):
- Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related disciplines or a strong interest in pursuing one
- Passion for solving real world problems through research
- Demonstrable experience in one or more of the following: machine learning, program analysis, application security, cloud development, distributed systems
- Programming experience in two or more of C/C , Java, Python, Javascript, Node.js, Scala or similar
- Experience of processing large data sets to derive insights would be beneficial
- Research experience demonstrated by publications in leading journals would be a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English fluently
