Senior Applied Scientist - Generative AI

Invent, implement and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning and/or specific domain industry algorithms and systems. Build prototypes and explore conceptually new solutions. Work collaboratively with science, engineering, and product teams  to identify customer needs in order to create and implement solutions, promote innovation and drive model implementations.  Applies data science capabilities and research findings to create and implement solutions to scale. Responsible for developing new intelligence around core products and services through applied research on behalf of our customers.  Develops models, prototypes, and experiments that pave the way for innovative products and services.  
Responsible for developing and evaluating Generative AI applications, with a focus on red teaming, code generation, multimodal AI, and LLM evaluation. Key tasks include designing robust adversarial testing frameworks, optimizing LLMs, SLMs, and LMMs, and enhancing model performance, safety, and reliability. Involves fine-tuning models for code generation and multimodal tasks, implementing alignment techniques (RLHF/DPO), and developing scalable AI evaluation metrics to ensure high-quality, secure, and effective AI solutions.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and design Generative AI use cases, focusing on red teaming, code generation, multimodal AI, and LLM evaluation, ensuring scalable and production-ready solutions.
• Contribute to writing production-level model code, optimizing LLMs, SLMs, and LMMs for deployment in real-world applications.
• Collaborate with Software Engineering teams to integrate AI models into production systems, ensuring efficiency, robustness, and scalability.
• Set up distributed environments and experimental frameworks to conduct adversarial testing, fine-tuning, and model evaluation at scale.
• Design and implement algorithmic solutions for LLM safety, bias detection, and alignment (RLHF/DPO) while addressing security vulnerabilities through red teaming.
• Execute offline/online experiments to test model performance, robustness, and reliability across diverse AI applications.
• Work with large, complex datasets, applying advanced analytical techniques to optimize model performance and mitigate risks.
• Develop innovative strategies to balance tradeoffs in accuracy, efficiency, and safety in generative AI applications.
• Stay updated on cutting-edge research in ML, model evaluation, adversarial robustness, neural network optimization (quantization, pruning, compression, NAS), and differentiable compute primitives.
• Perform exploratory research in emerging AI techniques to drive advancements in generative AI security and evaluation.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
