We are a non-corporate, single surgeon, busy office that focuses on providing our patients with the best experience and the highest quality care. We are seeking an experienced Dental Insurance Coordinator/Administrative Assistant to join our team.
The Insurance Coordinator/Administrative Assistant assists patients with insurance benefits and communicates with insurance companies regarding claims. Works with patients to resolve financial challenges and maintains a healthy aging accounts receivable. Also works as a team member with other front office staff to answer calls, schedule patients, greet patients and perform administrative duties as necessary.
Essential Duties:
- Process and submit insurance claims
- Send information as requested by insurance companies such as x-rays, charting, narratives, and other documentation for processing the claim when applicable
- Monitor and follow-up on outstanding claims
- Correspond with insurance companies to resolve payment delays, requests for additional information, or to discuss denied treatment coverage
- Provide insurance predetermination documentation to patients and make financial arrangements
- Record all financial discussions with patients in their file
- Collect payments from patient prior to surgery
- Prepare and mail patients’ statements each month on a regular billing cycle
- Make collection calls
- Follow through with correspondence regarding collection when unable to contact the patient on the telephone
- Post payments to patients' accounts
- Handle all inquiries concerning insurance daily
- Communicate with referring dental/medical offices
- Assist receptionist with following duties as needed:
- Answer phones
- Schedule patients
- Greet patients
- Patient check-in/check out
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Medical/dental insurance eligibility, benefits and prior authorizations experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Punctual, responsible, team player
