Position Summary
The Human Resources Specialist works under the direction of the Practice Administrator to manage the organization’s human resources operations and functions for a busy healthcare practice. This position would be a part-time position (approximately 24-30 hours / week) with opportunities to move into a full-time position in the future.
Primary Responsibilities
- Hiring : Consulting with administrator to identify hiring needs, interviewing applicants, checking references, and hiring or referring qualified candidates.
- Onboarding : Running or helping with new employee orientation
- Record keeping : Maintaining employment records and processing paperwork such as administering various employee benefit programs (i.e. health, life, disability) and retirement plan. Monitoring and updating changes in elections.
- Policies and procedures : Developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and procedures
- Employee relations : Addressing employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations and work complaints
- Compliance : Helping organizations comply with HR laws and regulations
- Performance management : Helping manage employees' performance, pay, and benefits based on job and market evaluations
- Communication : Interpreting and explaining human resources policies, procedures, and laws
- Events and Culture : Coordinating employee engagement activities and events, such as health and wellness, recruitment, employee recognition, and professional development. Partner with leaders on building company culture
- Documentation : Maintaining and updating human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks, or performance evaluation forms

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in business with a human resources management emphasis or associate’s degree with applicable experience.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and address conflict appropriately.
