JOB DESCRIPTION
- PART TIME
- Must have a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
- Must have strong communication and clerical skills.
- Must be willing to clean and organize facilities.
- Must have an eye for detail. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and demands, make on-the-spot decisions and be flexible with changes. Must be able to articulate instructions well.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to motivate and organize staff.
- Must have the ability to effectively work with staff, administration, students, and parents from varying cultural backgrounds, always maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality of information.
- Maintains compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policy and its’ procedures.
- Responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Hammer Center, other buildings, and grounds across campus.
- Oversees facility while on duty and ensures safety and security of Hammer Center staff and patrons.
- Makes periodic rounds checking to be certain those using the facility have proper authorization. Confront any questionable situations.
- Reports any problems to the Director and/or ORU Security to handle.
- Does not engage a potentially dangerous person.
- Assists patrons with equipment needs; access to rooms, etc. based on the class schedule or requisition sheets.
- Enforces all building policies and adherence to the same. Ensures student workers are aware of and follow all policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Requires a High School diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, manual dexterity for use of office machines and equipment and occasional light to heavy lifting. Must have the ability to hear clearly and distinctly for effective communication with clients, parents, students, faculty and staff. Vision to include: near, far, depth perception, ability to distinguish colors and the ability to bring objects into focus.
- Coordination of the events may involve both inside and outside work under all elements.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S):
- Current Adult CPR & Safety & First Aid certification is required during the first initial 90 days.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong communication skills (in person and email).
- Facility management, recreational programming, and supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be able to ascertain and understand facility operations and related problems and provide appropriate solutions.
- Must be able to make decisions and act effectively in stressful situations. Must be able to work under much stress, adapt quickly to changing situations, and meet last-minute demands effectively. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Familiarity is needed with Microsoft Word and Excel in order to enter data into reports and department records.
