OVERVIEW
The Part-Time Student Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of students to various locations on and off-campus. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will possess a clean driving record, the ability to navigate campus routes efficiently, and a strong customer service mindset when interacting with students. This part-time position offers flexible hours, including potential evening and weekend shifts, to meet the transportation needs of the office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely and efficiently drive students to scheduled destinations, off-campus.
Ensure timely arrival for scheduled transportation, including pickups and drop-offs.
Maintain a clean driving record and always adhere to traffic laws and ORU transportation policies.
Ensure vehicle is in good working condition, reporting any issues promptly.
Provide excellent customer service to students, answering questions and assisting with any special needs during transportation.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with students.
Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure safety and functionality.
Report vehicle issues promptly to the supervisor.
Ensure all safety equipment (e.g., seat belts, first aid kits) is in working condition.
Keep vehicles clean, both inside and out, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for students.
Follow scheduling instructions provided by the Director of International Student Relations and maintain a clear line of communication with the office.
Record and report mileage, fuel use, and vehicle maintenance needs as required.
Participate in safety and driving-related training sessions as required.
Provide assistance to the International Student Relations office with other tasks related to transportation as needed.
Other special projects and administrative duties as assigned by the Director of International Student Relations or University administration.
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
Clean driving record with a valid driver’s license.
Previous experience as a driver or in a customer service role is preferred.
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students and faculty.
Must be reliable and punctual with an excellent attendance record.
Ability to work independently and follow directions precisely.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to university policies.

Hours of Work & Attendance:
This is a part-time position, with flexible hours based on the transportation needs of the International Student Relations office.
The schedule may include evening and weekend shifts, depending on student activities and transportation requirements.
