JOB DESCRIPTION
- FULL-TIME
Availability and assessment of minor illnesses and injuries for ORU students, faculty & staff. Ensure student compliance of required immunizations and medical paperwork. Communication with students, parents, faculty and staff regarding medical care of our students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Available to ORU students, faculty and staff for nursing care. Including the following: treatment of minor injuries and illness, assessment of medical/physical needs, discuss/educate students and parents regarding health-related concerns, and follow up with students to ensure their health and well-being. Tasks to be performed during Student Health office hours Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Telephone triage regarding health-related concerns.
- Order supplies, complete general office duties, inventory over-the-counter medicine, maintain accurate filing system of student medical records.
- Effectively communicate with staff, faculty and community resources via email, phone, and in person.
- Review all Medical Assessments and immunization records and input properly into system to ensure student compliance with required paperwork for admission to ORU.
- Ensure monthly reports are submitted in a timely fashion to Director for Auxiliary Services.
- Available to students and parents to answer any questions regarding immunizations or other Student Health paperwork required for admission to ORU.
- Make certain Student Health stays clean and in order, by inputting work orders and following up with Housekeeping when necessary.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Director of Auxiliary Services.
- Care and handling of confidential information such as student files and records.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Associate's degree in Nursing. Must be a registered nurse.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Requires four (4) years hands-on nursing experience. Computer experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- Must have work experience or good working knowledge in the identification and care of minor injuries, common colds and illnesses.
- Must have knowledge and good judgment regarding medical issues and/or emergencies.
- Must be able to work under stress and handle situations dealing with sick or upset students and/or parents. Must have ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
- Must be reliable, flexible and a team player. Must be professional, compassionate, and courteous at all times.
- Maintains compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policy and its’ procedures and confidentiality regarding internally sensitive information. Must be in compliance with protected health information as mandated by HIPPA and/or ORU policy and procedures.
