Oral Surgery Assistants are responsible for assisting the doctors in all aspects of surgical care. This includes patient care, preparation of room and instruments, assisting with surgery, discharging patient after procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Comply with HIPAA guidelines and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
2. Prepare surgical packs, clean and stock rooms prior to and after surgical procedure.
3. Seat patients in treatment rooms, answer questions, and prepare patient for procedure.
4. Take necessary x-rays or CT scan.
5. Assist the doctors during surgical procedure. Anticipate needs and ensure proper flow, body position, and document procedure as needed.
6. Review and complete patient paperwork, prescriptions, etc. prior to doctor leaving the room.
7. Assess patient readiness for discharge and assist patient with discharge process.
8. Sterilize instruments, dispose of trash and hazardous waste in prescribed manner.
9. Attend training and staff meetings, assists in training of new staff when needed.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. and bend at the waist.

- Ability to train and learn oral surgery and aseptic techniques and OSHA guidelines.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work within computer and scheduling software.
- Learn and obtain CPR certification, familiarity with crash cart and emergency procedures in the office.
This position is scheduled weekly 2-3 days/week. Additional hours may be available if you are willing to travel to our main location in Altoona, WI.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
