Job Title: Quality Assurance and Purchasing Specialist
Location: Tonawanda, NY
Reports To: Quality Assurance/Regulatory Manager
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Assurance and Purchasing Specialist to join our team. This dual-role position requires a unique combination of expertise in ensuring product quality standards and managing purchasing activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of products and services through writing specifications, writing Standard Operating Procedures, auditing, and testing, while also managing procurement activities to ensure that materials and products are sourced to ensure specifications are met, and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance:
- Develop and implement quality control procedures and specifications.
- Conduct regular product audits to ensure adherence to company quality specifications.
- Coordinate and perform testing to ensure product performance and reliability.
- Identify areas for improvement in quality processes and work closely with relevant departments to implement changes.
- Resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation of quality inspections, tests, and reports.
- Work with suppliers to ensure that products meet quality standards before shipment.
Purchasing:
- Manage the procurement process for raw materials, products, and services to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.
- Source and evaluate potential suppliers, and negotiate contracts, prices, and terms.
- Monitor inventory levels and work closely with suppliers to ensure stock availability.
- Coordinate with internal teams to understand purchasing needs and ensure that materials are sourced accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Quality Assurance, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
- Experience in Quality assurance and/or purchasing.
- Proven experience in developing and managing quality control systems and processes.
- Familiarity with procurement software and inventory management systems.
- Experience with supplier negotiations and contract management.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards and regulations (ISO, GMP, etc.).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in Quality Assurance (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO certifications) or Purchasing (e.g., CIPS) are a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.01 - $25.51 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
