Starting hourly rate: $20.00 per hourJob Summary: The utility line locator is responsible for completing all assigned tickets by the scheduled due date. Completes tickets consist of accurately locating and marking existing sewer lines. Takes clear photographs of markings and enters needed notes of the locate into the system. Assist in repair and maintenance throughout the wastewater collection system.Supervisory Responsibilities: None.Essential Functions: Works as an apprentice, working closely with experienced technicians to gain hands-on training and valuable knowledge.Participates in on the job training, developing skills, safety protocols, and equipment operations.Assists in accurate records of work performed.Assists in locating underground sewer lines with utility locator, or other tools to detect buried lines/ valves.Assist with sewer line breaks when needed.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to operate a variety of equipment, machinery and tools as necessary to complete essential functions, which may include motor vehicle, utility locator, ground penetrating radar, backhoe, etc. Must be able to handle multiple tasks effectively.Skill in preparing clear and concise reports.Knowledge of material, methods, practices and equipment used in maintenance, operation and repair of sewage facilities.Must be able to maintain a positive and professional attitude and an effective working relationship with, and among coworkers.Must be able to stand and walk around regularly, both inside and outside, sometimes in inclement weather and uneven terrain.Experience and Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must Possess a valid drivers license.Willing to work overtime or non-standard hours when necessary.CS-1 Operations Certificate as issued by the ADEM preferred or willing to obtain Operation Certificate within (2) years.Working Conditions: May require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odor, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim light, toxic agents, disease, pathogenic substances, or animal/ insect bites.
