Starting Pay Rate: $15.00 per hourJob SummaryThe Expect Excellence Early Elementary Counselors are responsible for leading and assisting in programs and experiences for small groups of elementary age children in grades Pre-k through 2 nd grade. Ideal employees would be mature persons with experience in sports, music, dance, arts and crafts, recreation games, etc. Counselors are responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. Camp Counselors will fully engage in programs and assist instructors to provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on academics, arts and athletics. Responsibilities may include front desk work and driving vans for field trips.Supervisory responsibilitiesSchool aged children.Essential functions: Assist in facilitating a variety of small and large group activities each week. Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.Communicate with the Program Administrator about participant’s experiences and report concerns including identifying and responding to camper behavioral issues.Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all programareas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety andtheir whereabouts at all times.Maintain control of assigned small groups and fully participate during program timeswhile instructors are facilitating a specific programQualifications: Education and experience: Upon hire, completion of First Aid and CPR certification. (Classes provided)Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.Licenses and Certifications: Possess a Valid Driver’s License.Possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.Physical Demands: Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to swimming, team building initiatives, physical games, and activitiesWork environment: Work in conditions that will vary from indoor to outdoor in summer heat.Note: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
