Job Title: Instructional / Math Coach
Reports To: School Principal or Designee
Job Goal: To assist and support colleagues in the implementation of best practices for instruction to promote continuous school improvement by partnering with teachers to provide instructional coaching/modeling, training, and support aligned with curriculum and based on standards.
Qualifications:
- Holds or able to acquire a valid teaching certificate in Alabama
- Minimum of five (5) years of effective classroom teaching experience
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Thorough and complete knowledge of Alabama Course of Study and standards progression
- Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned duties or responsibilities
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities
- Works directly with teachers, under the supervision of the principal, to suggest and model effective and specific teaching methods and instructional strategies.
- Demonstrate and model exemplary classroom instructional/problem solving practices and possess an explicit knowledge regarding best instructional practices
- Work with teachers individually, in collaborative teams, and/or with departments, providing practical support on a full range of instructional strategies to promote student engagement
- Helps strengthen vertical alignment by working with teachers K-12 creating a common language for instruction
- Assist with providing data management training, collection, analyzing and processing with school staff
- Work with school teams and Principal to order materials and supplies to support instruction and professional development
- Serves as part of the Response to Intervention (RtI) Team and Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS)
- Ability to organize, plan and implement effective professional development based on the needs of students and teachers, and that align with the instructional goals of the school
- Serves as the A coordinator and ensures teachers have required training in E3 and AP curriculum
- Responsible for distribution and inventory of A materials
- Plans and leads PLCs in the schools
- Engages in continuing improvement of professional knowledge and skills
- Promotes teachers in presenting specialty content at professional conferences
- Demonstrates knowledge of prescribed curriculum, intervention strategies, school improvement plans, and effective professional development delivery techniques
- Act as a growth agent in the system to promote a positive and collaborative school culture
- Participate in monthly meetings with building principal
- Assist in the collaboration of the ACIP Plan
- Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system
- Supports and complies with school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor(s)
Terms of Employment/Salary: 9, 10, or 12 months as assigned / To be determined, commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified/Classified Personnel.
