POSITION: Communications Assistantship
DEPARTMENT: Communications & Marketing
REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Communications
STATUS: Temporary Full-Time, Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: This is an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in a career in communications and media relations. This position is responsible for supporting the communications and marketing department with duties related to OBC programming and events, in addition to supporting the organization’s overall brand awareness initiatives.
Salary: $2430 monthly /Duration: 6.5 months /Tentative start date: Fall 2025
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide support for the coordination and distribution of information for the Capital One Orange Bowl, Orange Bowl Cares and other Orange Bowl events and programs.
- Manage and write content for Orange Bowl communication vehicles to include marketing and ticket sales emails, press releases and media advisories, newsletters and digital publications.
- Organize news clippings and media impression analytics.
- Contribute to the media operations efforts for both the Capital One Orange Bowl and AutoNation Orange Bowl Basketball Classic.
- Assist in the hosting and first-class hospitality efforts of local and national media during bowl week for the Capital One Orange Bowl.
- Edit the official Capital One Orange Bowl game program and media guide.
- Provide administrative assistance for communications department, including office management, credential logistics and other areas as needed.
- Support all external communications concerning OBC programming and events.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 1 year of equivalent work experience highly preferred.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough understanding of college football strongly preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects on deadline.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends and some holidays.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in Canva, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign a plus, as well as Constant Contact or similar email distribution software.
- Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
- Should have an interest in pursuing a career in communications, marketing or journalism.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
