Orange Coast Building Services is a leading construction firm specializing in destructive testing, reconstruction, and consulting services for Homeowners’ Associations (HOAs) and attorneys.
We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager who can step in, take ownership, and execute at a high level. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and a strong leader—someone who can balance initiative with adaptability in a collaborative, team-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Emotional Intelligence
- Lead, mentor, and support the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Balance drive with adaptability—bring fresh ideas while being open to feedback and the way things have been done.
- Communicate with clarity and emotional intelligence, ensuring alignment with leadership, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Financial & Operational Mastery
- Manage and execute complex accounting operations across A/P, A/R, payroll, and the general ledger.
- Oversee and refine project accounting, including job costing, revenue recognition, and expense tracking, ensuring accuracy and profitability.
- Own the financial reporting process, delivering clear, actionable reports to leadership, HOA managers, and attorneys.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Apply expertise in construction-specific financial practices, including lien laws, retainage, and job costing.
- Implement and refine internal controls to safeguard assets and improve efficiency without unnecessary disruption to existing processes.
Strategic Systems & Process Improvement
- Optimize financial systems and workflows while maintaining continuity in current processes.
- Leverage Sage 100 and Microsoft Excel to enhance reporting and operational efficiency.
- Make thoughtful, incremental process improvements that improve accuracy and transparency without creating unnecessary upheaval.
What We Need from You (Qualifications)
- Deep expertise in accounting and financial management—you’ve done this before and can handle complexity from day one.
- Strong leadership and people management skills—able to mentor, manage, and motivate while fostering a team-driven culture.
- Proven ability to take initiative and problem-solve while maintaining a collaborative approach.
- Extensive knowledge of construction accounting (job costing, lien laws, retainage, revenue recognition).
- Strong proficiency in Sage 100 and Microsoft Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to work in-office five days per week.
- Must pass a background check.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary:
$80,000 – $110,000 annually
Performance-Based Bonuses:
5%–15% of base salary ($4,000 – $16,500)
Based on company performance, successful project management, and individual
contributions.
