Starting Salary Range : Range : M-12 : $13,458 (Step A), $13,996 (Step B), $14,556 (Step C), $15,138 (Step D), $15,744 (Step E) Monthly based on experience
Doctoral Bonus : An employee with an earned doctorate from an accredited collegiate institution will receive a $2,000 annual doctoral stipend. Any additional earned doctorate will not be eligible for additional amounts.

JOB SUMMARY : Reporting to the President of Grossmont College, the Vice President of Academic Affairs has the responsibility of providing leadership and direction to college instructional programs, the library, and computer technology learning resources. Directly reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs are five Instructional Deans, a Dean of Learning and Technology Resources, and an Instructional Operations Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Direct, administer, and supervise the planning, organization, and coordination of instructional programs and the library and computer technology learning resources that support these programs.
- Provide leadership with curriculum development in accordance with college goals and standards; assist in developing, evaluating, and improving course outlines and objectives resulting in an educational program that responds to changing community needs.
- Direct the recruitment, selection, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of instructional personnel and classified staff.
- Advise and confer with the President on management issues involving courses and programs of the college, including development and / or revision of policies and procedures; lead enrollment management efforts; participate in strategic and long-range planning for college activities and programs.
- Prepare, recommend, implement, and monitor budgets for assigned areas; upon expenditure variations, take necessary action to assure compliance with budget limitations and established fiscal policies.
- Supervise the development and publication of the college catalog and student-centered class schedules.
- Direct the preparation of reports as required by federal, state, local, and district regulations; inform the President and other district staff as to the status of assigned functions.
- Maintain current knowledge of legislation and educational trends pertinent to instructional philosophy and practice, i.e., Title V and the California Education Code.
- Represent the college and district in the area of instruction to the community, governmental agencies, high schools, and two-year and four-year colleges.
- Chair and serve on governance committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Master’s degree in education or closely related field from an accredited institution and three years of increasingly responsible management experience in an educational institution of which two years management experience have been with emphasis in the area or closely related area of the administrator’s assignment. Doctorate preferred.
