Job Overview
The Commissioner plays a pivotal role in overseeing healthcare operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and maintaining compliance with health regulations. Responsibilities

• Oversee the administration of healthcare services, ensuring adherence to established standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with medical staff to develop and implement patient care protocols.
• Conduct regular assessments of healthcare programs to evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Manage medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with legal requirements.
• Facilitate training and development programs for healthcare personnel on best practices in patient care.
• Address patient concerns and complaints promptly to ensure satisfaction and quality care.
• Monitor infection control measures within the facility to prevent outbreaks and ensure patient safety.
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless operations and effective communication within the healthcare team.

• Proficient in Ostomy care and Medication administration for effective patient management.
• Knowledgeable in Infectious disease care and Infection control practices to safeguard patient health.
• Experienced in Pain management techniques to enhance patient comfort during treatment.
• Skilled in performing Physical examinations and conducting thorough Triage assessments for efficient patient evaluation.
• Familiar with Trauma medicine protocols to respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Strong ability to maintain accurate Medical records while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Committed to providing exceptional Patient care, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Qualifications for Commissioner of Health (State Law 10 NYCRR 11.11):

(a) A physician who is currently registered to practice medicine in New York State and possesses at least two years of experience in administrative practice that demonstrates that the candidate possesses the knowledge and skills to administer public health programs including workforce and budget management, effective communications, effective establishment and implementation of policy or business goals, and compliance with legal requirements and:

(1) certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine; or

(2) a master's degree in public health from a regionally accredited or New York State-registered college or university that demonstrates the core competencies of a masters in public health (biostatistics, environmental health sciences, epidemiology, health policy and management, and social and behavior sciences) or a masters degree in a related field from a regionally accredited New York Stateregistered college or university.

(b) All appointments to the position of commissioner of health must be approved by the State Commissioner of Health.

(c) Candidates who do not meet the education or experience requirements of this section may be conditionally approved by the State Commissioner of Health for an appointment of two years, with an opportunity for two additional one-year conditional renewals. Final approval of these candidates shall be contingent on satisfactory progress in meeting a public health education or experience plan developed in conjunction with and approved by the State Commissioner of Health.
