Job Description
Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for directing and overseeing assigned units, supervising subordinate supervisors, and serving as liaison with internal departments and external agencies.
Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of assigned supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.
**This posting is for the Administrative Supervisor responsible for Classification and Inmate Affairs. A pool will be created for utilization in future vacancies in other units**
Representative Duties /Assignments
Manages and supervises assigned unit(s) or areas to include directing and overseeing the activities of supervisors and staff as well as providing technical assistance.
Assists in formulating long- and short-term goals and objectives.
Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, certifications, and accreditations.
Allocates personnel, addresses employee issues, and makes recommendations for disciplinary actions, terminations, transfers, and promotions.
Utilizes the Employee Performance Management System to ensure adherence to performance standards and provides timely feedback to employees.
Serves as a liaison between respective units and other departments, divisions, external agencies, and community groups.
Fosters effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to include other county departments, corrections divisions, public and private organizations and the community.
Develops, reviews, and approves policies and procedures for assigned unit(s).
Monitors all areas of responsibility to ensure quality control and compliance.
Conducts research, analyzes data, and utilizes findings for planning purposes.
Ensures timely submission of reports and maintains accurate documentation.
Prepares and submits required reports to maintain accreditation standards.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Classification and Inmate Affairs
Directs certified classification officers in assigning custody levels and housing.
Ensures accurate calculation of inmate sentences and transfers.
Oversees the handling (processing) of inmate disciplinary matters, grievances, and law library operations.
Fiscal & Operational Support/Inmate Fiscal
Manages a 24/7 operation including overseeing the fiscal accountability for inmate funds and property.
Handles financial reconciliation of the Inmate Trust Fund (ITF) and validation of Commissary payment reporting.
Receives, reviews, processes, and submits documents such as statistical reports, personnel reports, etc.
Responsible for handling after-hours emergency calls from internal and external customers.
Information System Services (ISS)
Coordinates technology activities across multiple divisions in cooperation with the County’s ISS Department.
Provides day-to-day management of the ISS systems and processes.
Performs project management activities related to ISS, technology asset management, and Criminal Justice Information Services compliance activities.
Supervises support staff assigned to functional area and provides training on the use of the systems.
Inmate Records Management
Oversees a 24/7 operation and the accurate processing of inmate records and documents.
Monitors the intake process, release procedures, and compliance with court directives.
Inmate Programs, Re-Entry and Transitional Services
Directs, monitors and evaluates program staff and operations.
Coordinates religious/faith-based services and volunteer programs.
Ensures oversight of grant activities and timely reports.
Oversees inmate library services.
Pretrial Release Supervision and Pretrial Diversion
Provides oversight of assigned units, to include reviewing quality assurance audit reports, internal and external inspections, and accreditation audit results.
Reviews and approves documentation provided to the Court and/or the State Attorney.
Pretrial Services and Judicial Processing
Oversees a 24/7 operation and is responsible for inmate identification confirmation, investigation of defendants scheduled for First Appearance, provision of information to First Appearance judges, and processing court documents and defendants for release to pretrial release supervision.
Receives and processes court orders.
Probation
Responsible for the operations related to intake and for the process and supervision of offenders on Alternative Community Service as well as maintaining community partnerships for work sites.
Ensures team reviews and monitors documents for offender compliance to court and supervision mandates.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, Project Management, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Services or a closely related field specified by the department.
Supervisory experience in a correctional facility to include oversight of certified personnel
Experience in inmate classification

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and four (4) years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, Project Management, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Services or a closely related field specified by the department to include four (4) years of supervisory experience. In Lieu of the degree requirements, additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Preferences
