What are the responsibilities and job description for the Courier (Per Diem) position at Orange County Government?
Applications are now being accepted by Employment & Training Administration to work as Couriers on a per diem basis. Per Diem employees are assigned to work on an as-needed basis. Employment will not exceed 19 hours per week.
The work involves responsibility for the safe and economical operation of a motor vehicle to transport passengers and/or to deliver materials. In addition, incumbents in this class are expected to perform routine service tasks on the vehicle. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude to exercise independent judgment in routine matters. May be required to work evenings and weekends.Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES INCLUDE (But not limited to):
Operates a motor vehicle transporting passengers and/or delivering materials;
Checks oil, cleans and gasses vehicle on a timely basis;
Checks operating condition of vehicle before starting trip and reports any mechanical defect to supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (Class E or higher).
SALARY: $21.06 per hour
HOURS: Work is assigned on an as needed basis, which may last from one day or longer. Per Diem Couriers are restricted to working no more than 988 hours per year.
