Overview
The Payroll Specialist performs intermediate-level technical and clerical tasks necessary to pre-audit and process payroll and maintain each employee's record on the payroll system. Performance is reviewed by general observation and through periodic audit of records and transactions by the assistant manager or manager.
Representative Duties

Processes bi-weekly payroll.
Audits and extends payroll transmittal registers.
Inputs employees' payroll exception data.
Processes adjustments to prior payrolls.
Performs audit of check registers to assure accuracy of same.
Reviews, codes and inputs Employee Change Notice data.
Sorts and distributes payroll checks and reports to departments.
Segregates files and maintains payment authorization documents and reports.
Processes employee payroll deductions.
Audits and inputs insurance, savings bonds and other miscellaneous deductions.
Reviews transaction reports and deduction registers, and reconciles discrepancies.
Maintains files of employee deduction authorization forms.
Completes employee income verification requests.
Obtains required information and completes income verification forms.
Completes Workers' Compensation 13-week wage statements.
Maintains logs and files of completed requests.
Provides customer assistance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
