What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Parks Staff position at Orange County Government?
The Orange County Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation has an opening for Seasonal Parks Staff. These positions assist in the care and maintenance of the County's parks, open spaces, landscapes and other county owned lands.
Regular work schedule is part-time, with hours up to 40 hours per week. Requires some evening and weekend work.
* This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required. Fitness for Duty Assessment required. Park maintenance duties include but not limited to:
Park maintenance duties include safely driving and operating vehicles, trailers, mowing equipment and other motorized equipment; cleaning and maintaining bathrooms; collecting garbage; and planting and maintaining landscape beds, turf areas and trails.
Additional duties may include:
Additional duties may include providing visitor support and assistance, opening and closing park gates and facilities and assisting other County departments.Minimum Requirements
Requires the ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
Ability to communicate and understand written and oral commands in English.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND POSSIBLE HAZARDS
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of standing, sitting, pushing, walking, bending, pulling, stooping, kneeling, lifting, crawling, climbing, carrying, grasping, reaching, talking, hearing, handling and repetitive motions of the hands, wrists and feet.
Ability to perform very heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Must possess the visual acuity to operate heavy landscaping equipment, inspect parts, use measurement devices, fabricate or assemble and operate a computer terminal.
Worker is exposed to outside environmental conditions including extreme heat and cold;
Worker is subject to noise levels requiring shouting to be heard;
Worker is subject to vibration and oscillating movements of the whole body and extremities;
Worker is subject to mechanical hazards including, but not limited to, moving mechanical parts, electrical current and working on high places;
Worker is subject to respiratory hazards including, but not limited to, fumes,
gases, chemicals, dust and dirt;
Worker is subject to chemicals that may or may not cause burns or irritation to the skin, respiratory system or eyes;
Worker is subject to oils or other cutting fluids.
