Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County Florida. The Field Services Division is responsible for the inspection, testing, regulatory compliance, operation, and maintenance of over 4,800 miles of pipeline, over 11,000 fire hydrants, and approximately 860 wastewater pump stations.

Job Description
General Functions
This key position is responsible for technical assignments in partnership with engineers and requires considerable knowledge of engineering technology as it relates to County development and capital projects.
This is advanced technical work, which may include field investigation, preliminary or final design and construction of County projects and development review duties.
An employee in a position allocated to this class applies specialized skills and knowledge to County projects in relation to the design, construction, checking of engineering computations and preparation of plans and specifications.
Work is performed under the supervision of a staff engineer or other division official and is reviewed through results achieved.

- Reviews and approves field drawings for the purpose of updating record drawings and GIS.
- Oversees and coordinates editing and QC of utility GIS vector and attribute data.
- Supervises and participates in the production of plans for County projects in Utilities areas.
- Responds to inquiries pertaining to plans or permits applicable to field work or related restorations.
- Provides requested ArcGIS and AutoCAD deliverables such as utility maps and GIS final analysis datasets or spreadsheets.
- Coordinates with construction inspectors and management team on utility project walk through books and bond inspections.
- May work with attorneys, surveyors and developers in plan development.
- Performs related work as required.
- Reviews Maintenance of Traffic plans and coordinates with Utilities and Public Works staff or other governing municipality
- Coordinates with Utilities Staff for pressure recorders and prepares data for distribution
- High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the area of public utilities including potable water, waste water, and reclaim water.
- College level education with major course work in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Business Administration, Pre – Law or other related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year – for – year basis.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS
- Experience in Maximo or equivalent asset tracking software
- Experience in Construction industry
- Experience working with contractors or vendors
- Knowledge of construction specifications and the ability to read and interpret blueprints
