What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Social Worker position at Orange County Government?
The Department of Mental Health is accepting applications for the position of Staff Social Worker. The nature of this appointment is temporary substitute. Once the permanent holder attains status in another position, this position will become permanent, subject to a probationary term.
The work involves responsibility for performing social work to help patients with social, emotional and related difficulties. The work is performed within prescribed professional standards with considerable latitude permitted in formulation of treatment plans and methods, and administration of therapy. Work is performed under the general supervision of a designated supervisor and may involve supervision of Senior Caseworkers (Mental Health) assigned to a specific unit. Incumbent will be required to work two evenings per week and or may be required to work weekends. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a professional license and current registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker issued by the New York State Education Department.
NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. NOTE: Must possess the ability to fulfill the travel requirements of field assignments.
2025 Starting Salary: Orange County Employees, as per contract Grade 16
Grade 16, Step 04: $47.2696/hour
$98,320.77 annually (40-hour work week)
The successful candidate will be subject to a background investigation, including a Criminal History Record Check.
