POSITION PURPOSE :
The ISS (In-School Suspension) performs various technical and clerical tasks. The ISS may be requested to perform a wide range of tasks to support the efforts of the teacher(s), meet the needs of all students, assist with providing a secure testing environment as assigned, and ensure the provision of quality instruction for all students. In addition, the ISS provides one-on-one assistance with academics and behavioral problems that may lead to small group activities. The ISS also assists with general housekeeping and clerical duties as needed. All duties listed under "Essential Duties" are at the request of, or under the direction of, the Principal / Assistant Principal.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Applicants should know school and classroom rules, procedures, and practices.
- Applicant must have the ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods, and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment.
- Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and patience.
- Applicant must have experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged.
- Ability to motivate students
- Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Ability to perform general clerical duties
- Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom
- Ability to operate common office machines
- Ability to serve as a testing proctor as requested
- Ability to maintain basic files and records
