What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Tech Safety Associate position at Orange County Transit, LLC?
Fast Growing School Bus Transportation Company looking for a Tech Safety Associate. Under the direction of the Tech Safety Manager, the Tech Safety Associate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, installing, and updating the various electronics and telematics componentry utilized in our fleet. This includes, but not limited to, DVRs, camera systems, digital mobile radios, and GPS telemetries. This will require the candidate to be organized and adept in the use of hardware and software applications.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair on-board vehicle technologies such as DVRs, camera systems, digital mobile radios, and GPS telemetries .
- Ability to make basic repairs to broken or damaged technology equipment, along with repairs to faulty installations.
- Examine vehicles to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.
- Test operation of parts and/or systems to ensure completeness of repairs.
- Utilize relevant technology software applications for system maintenance.
- Interpret and apply manufacturer’s repair manuals, schematics, diagnostic codes and safety manuals.
- Follow proper procedures for creating requisitions, obtaining repair service parts and operating shop supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory of technology equipment and supplies while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Extract and submit videos for school districts upon request.
- Perform other duties as requested by manager.
Skills:
- Ability to move, operate, and store equipment.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry vehicle technology components and parts.
- Must be able to frequently enter and exit vehicles, in addition to some bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing.
- Must be comfortable with exposure to various weather conditions and possible irritants such as vehicle insulation.
- Ability to pass a basic electronics test.
Qualifications:
- H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of automobile electrical components/functionality
Other:
- Travel to locations in Upstate NY (Orange and Dutchess counties), NJ and Long Island (Company vehicle provided),
- Position is based in Holtsville, NY
- Tools and accessories required to complete job duties will be provided.
