What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer College Intern - Marketing position at Orange County Transportation Authority?
OCTA's Summer College Intern Program is a ten-week paid student/intern program. You will gain real world work experience on meaningful projects under the guidance of transportation professional. You will have the opportunity to use problem solving, communication and decision-making skills as you gain valuable work experience.
As a Summer College Intern, you will be exposed to OCTA's career opportunities in the transportation industry. You will gain deeper awareness of transportation's many facets through your OCTA orientation, projects and teams, and internal networking.
Under direct supervision, students will perform a variety of professional, entry-level duties to obtain practical experience related to their major field of study and interest, and the sponsoring department's current business operations within OCTA and the Transportation Industry. Employment will be full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, for the duration of the ten-week program.
This opportunity will provide valuable support to the Marketing team in the various aspects of campaign development, such as media planning, creative production, and tracking and reporting of campaign performance. During this program, the intern will work collaboratively with the marketing team to assist with outreach, develop content-marketing strategies, maintain public information and promotional content, and assist in creative production.
The pay range is from $19.00 - $22.00 per hour depending on your education level. This position is not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

- Supports the marketing team by brainstorming content marketing ideas.
- Researches, compiles, interprets, analyzes, and evaluates data of campaign performance and trends to provide insights and recommendations to team.
- Maintains public information and promotion content on the OCTA website and social media.
- Assists with creative production for marketing/advertising programs.
- Attends, assists, and supports marketing team with external and internal company events and other promotional activities.

- Learning the methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used in marketing.
Ability to:
- Perform entry-level professional work.
- Acquire increasingly complex and technical knowledge and skills.

Qualifications
Requirements to qualify for the Summer College Intern Program are as follows:
- College students must be enrolled full-time in a two or four-year college program, at an accredited college or university, and follow a course of study leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Students that graduate with their bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in the fall of 2024 or the spring of 2025, are eligible.
- College students enrolled full-time and pursuing a master’s degree from an accredited college.
Desirable degree program for this assignment is Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related discipline.
Special Qualifications:
- College students pursuing a course of study leading to an undergraduate degree must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or better.
- College students pursuing a course of study leading to a graduate degree must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Must submit most recent college transcript.
