Orange Crescent School is a private, non-profit, Islamic School.  OCS is seeking highly qualified teachers for various grade levels to teach for 2021-2022 school year. Job Description: Classroom Teacher   Position reports directly to the Principal, but works in conjunction with the Vice-Principal.  The responsibilities for the Classroom Teacher include, but are not limited to, these tasks.   Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies/Arts, Child Development, or other education related major.
  2. A professional clear multiple-subject teaching credential or equivalent preferred but preliminary credential accepted.
  3. Master’s Degree in Education only if the candidate’s Bachelor’s degree is in a field unrelated to the education of children.
  4. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aide all students.
  5. Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record
  General Description: Help students to learn subject matter and skills which will lead toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth.  Directs and evaluates the learning experiences of the students in activities sponsored by the school.   Performance Responsibilities:
  • Maintain records as required by school policy.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships and professional ethics.
  • Pursue and provide evidence of professional growth.
  • Model appropriate dress and behavior.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to the students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational development.
  • Administer the classroom and its program of organization, management, and discipline at all times.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of term reports, report cards, and conferences.
  • Write clear and usable lesson plans that indicate direction for instruction and implementation of courses of study.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter.
  • Be prompt in arriving in and dismissing a class in conformity with school schedules, as well as reporting promptly to school and to any meetings called.
  • Present clear, complete, and accurate explanations suitable to level of learners.
  • Approach subject matter in a positive and enthusiastic manner; present subject matter in a calm, self-confident, and poised manner.
  • Encourage active student participation by receiving learners' questions comfortably and answering them clearly and completely.
  • Give positive reinforcement to acceptable academic and social behavior.
  • Consistently confront undesirable behavior with firmness and fairness.
  • Present objectives clearly, give clear and concise instructions, and present material relevant to the objective.
  • Provide activities that will help learners meet the objectives
  • Begin and end lessons on time.
  • Monitor student behavior and activities.
  • Show respect and consideration for students, staff, parents, etc.
  • Periodically assess student progress and daily ask relevant questions of varying difficulty throughout the lesson to check for understanding.
  • Provide homework that is relevant to the learning objective.
  • Provides for the care and protection of school property by keeping an active record of texts, supplies, and equipment used in the classroom.
  • Fosters desirable school-community relationships.
  • Refers attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to Principal.
  • Assists in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Accepts a share of responsibility for committees and co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Attends school and faculty meetings (seminars, conferences, workshops, etc.) as adopted in the school's calendar unless excused by the Principal.
  • Conducts other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Salary : $58,950 - $72,000
