Advanced EMT (AEMT)
Orange Cross Ambulance – Sheboygan County, WI
Full-Time | Emergency Medical Services
Pay Range: $21.00 – $27.40 per hour
Position Overview
Orange Cross Ambulance (OCA) is seeking compassionate and capable Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs) to serve as front-line EMS providers and clinical leaders. This is a critical role in our mission to provide high-quality, patient-centered out-of-hospital care and transport across Sheboygan County and surrounding areas.
Under the direction of the Field Supervisor and Training Officers, the AEMT will respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls, perform assessments and interventions within the AEMT scope of practice, and help ensure the safe and effective delivery of pre-hospital care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality basic and advanced life support in emergency settings
- Operate ambulances safely and efficiently while responding to 911 and interfacility transport calls
- Assess, stabilize, and treat patients in accordance with OCA protocols, standing orders, and physician direction
- Maintain daily readiness of equipment, medications, and vehicles
- Submit timely, accurate documentation and patient care reports
- Assist in onboarding and training of new EMS staff and students (as eligible)
- Actively participate in QA, continuing education, and team development
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, coworkers, and partner agencies
- Serve as a representative of OCA in the community, promoting health and safety initiatives
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Sound clinical judgment and decision-making under pressure
- Familiarity with medical protocols and EMS treatment standards
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude
- Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts
- Knowledge of the Sheboygan County area and navigation principles
- Competence in equipment maintenance and infection control procedures
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license (State of Wisconsin or equivalent)
- Current AHA CPR certification
- Completion of EVOC or CEVO (or within Field Training period)
- Annual completion of HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Sexual Harassment training
Special Requirements:
- Wisconsin licensure as an Advanced EMT
- Successful completion of OCA local credentialing process
- Pass a State of Wisconsin caregiver background check
- Pass all pre-employment physical and drug screening
Physical & Environmental Expectations
- Frequent lifting/moving of patients and equipment (100 lbs with assistance)
- Ability to work in unpredictable weather and challenging terrain
- Exposure to hazards including blood, bodily fluids, chemicals, and mechanical risks
- Frequent kneeling, bending, squatting, and standing for extended periods
