POSITION SUMMARY
At Orange Lutheran High School we develop Christ- centered athletes who compete with excellence and lead with Character. Our athletic programs are designed to challenge students to reach their fullest potential while grounding them in Christian values. We are seeking a Head Boys Basketball Coach who is passionate about competitive excellence and helping our athletes grow not only as players but as individuals who embody strong character, leadership, and faith.We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head Boys Basketball Coach to lead our program in the nation’s top athletic league. This coach will inspire and challenge student-athletes to strive for excellence in every aspect of the game, while instilling Christian values such as integrity, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to compete at the highest level, overseeing player development, and fostering a culture of discipline, faith, and success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Integrate Christian faith into coaching, teaching student-athletes the importance of character, humility, teamwork, and respect both on and off the court. Use basketball as a tool for spiritual growth and personal development.
- Lead the boys basketball team by developing and executing a comprehensive coaching plan that fosters both individual and team development. Train athletes in basketball fundamentals, advanced skills, and strategies while creating a competitive yet supportive environment.
- Identify and attract talented basketball players who fit within the school’s mission and values. Develop and execute a year-round training program that focuses on skill improvement, physical conditioning, and mental toughness.
- Prepare for and analyze game strategies, ensuring that the team is always well-prepared for competition. Lead team practices, providing clear instruction and feedback. Manage game preparation, including video analysis, scouting, and pre-game meetings.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the basketball program, including team meetings, practice schedules, and game itineraries. Ensure all aspects of the program align with the school’s vision for competitive excellence.
- Work closely with the Director of athletics and other coaches to ensure a holistic approach to athletics, balancing competitive excellence with academic and spiritual development. Communicate effectively with parents and the school community to keep them informed of team progress and goals.
- Serve as a mentor to student-athletes, guiding them in their personal and academic lives. Encourage them to uphold Christian principles in all of their actions, both in competition and outside of it.
- Ensure that the team adheres to all league rules and regulations, as well as the school’s policies and standards. Maintain a safe and positive environment for all players and coaches
- Approves timecards on schedule; assures assistant coaches comply with school payroll procedures and government wage and hour laws
- Collaborates with sports performance staff to establish a thorough strength and conditioning curriculum
- Develops off-season training programs and summer opportunities
- Oversees budgeting, purchasing, and expenditures; maintains, and inventories equipment
- Communicates program information to school administration, students, parents, and community
- Coordinates fundraising efforts to help support the basketball program
- Organizes the annual end-of-season Awards Night
- Awareness of athletic and occupational hazards and safety precautions. Administers first aid contacts EMS when appropriate. Promptly reports all sports-related injuries, coordinates with athletic trainers
- Pursues opportunities for student-athletes to compete at the next level after their high school career
- Monitors student conduct and performance eligibility; establishes rules for behavior; works with Athletic Director, administrators, and faculty to resolve academic and behavioral issues
- Advises students, parents, assistant coaches
- Attends department and team meetings and required school functions
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrator

High School diploma
Experience
Some experience as an assistant coach at the high school or college level preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience; or any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed.
