POSITION SUMMARY

Orange Lutheran High School seeks an Off-Campus Internship Program Coordinator to develop, implement, and oversee a dynamic internship program that connects students with meaningful, real-world experiences beyond campus while preparing them to be a Christian witness in the workplace regardless of their future career path. This position establishes and maintains partnerships with businesses, alumni, and parents, ensuring students gain hands-on learning opportunities in professional environments. The Coordinator will also guide students through the internship process, from placement to reflection, ensuring alignment with career and vocational readiness goals and 21st-century skill development.

Reports to: Academies Dept Chair (with close collaboration with the Assistant Principal of Academics and the Director of Counseling and College Planning)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Community Partnerships & Internship Coordination

  • Identify, establish, and maintain partnerships with businesses, nonprofit organizations, alumni, and parents to create off-campus internship opportunities
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and external partners, ensuring clear communication and mutual benefit
  • Develop outreach strategies and present proposals to engage potential partners, universities, and industry leaders
  • Organize networking events, panels, and career fairs with industry professionals, alumni, and community members to expand opportunities for students
  • Represent the school at external networking functions and develop a strong alumni network for internship placements and career guidance
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications at Orange Lutheran to promote the program through social media, newsletters, presentations, and community engagement efforts
  • Work with internal stakeholders to collect and analyze feedback from students and employers, using insights to refine and enhance the program annually
  • Match students with appropriate internship opportunities based on career interests, skills, and learning objectives
  • Guide students through the application, interview, and onboarding processes to prepare them for professional experiences
  • Conduct site visits and check-ins with students and internship supervisors to monitor progress and address any challenge
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and support to help students maximize their internship experience as well as experiential learning opportunities with Christian leaders in various fields
  • Explore partnerships with national and global organizations to expand student access to diverse industries and emerging career fields

Program Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and implement a structured internship curriculum, including workplace readiness skills, professional communication, ethics, and industry-specific competencies. Facilitate pre-internship workshops on résumé building, networking, and workplace etiquette
  • Create reflection assignments and assessments that help students articulate their learning and career insights
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student participation, evaluations, and program outcomes to track trends and inform future improvements
  • Assess and refine the program by collecting and analyzing feedback from students, employers, and university partners while staying informed on industry and higher education trends
  • Prepare and present reports to school leadership on program impact, expansion strategies, and partnership opportunities
  • Strengthen partnerships with universities, industry leaders, and vocational programs to expand internship opportunities, explore dual-credit options, and align with career pathways
  • Collaborate with faculty, counselors, and administrators to align internships with academic pathways and career exploration initiatives

Education

 

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree in the field of study preferred)

Experience

  • At least 5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Experience leading and facilitating settings for individual and larger group learning
  • Experience leading and managing teams while providing constructive feedback and coaching to team members
  • Any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed

LICENSES, CLEARANCES, CERTIFICATES

  • Valid Fingerprint
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications
  • TB Risk Assessment
  • Ministry Safe Clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must have the physical abilities to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The majority of work is performed in a climate-controlled school setting, with occasional outside exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • The noise level is that of a typical quiet office setting with occasional exposure to moderate to loud noise at school events
