POSITION SUMMARY
The Worship Arts Director provides academic oversight, instruction, and support for the Sacred Music (Creative Worship) program at Orange Lutheran High School. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a dynamic worship curriculum, directing student-led worship experiences, and fostering an environment where students grow spiritually and musically. The Worship Arts Director ensures that all worship and chapel activities align with the school’s mission of helping students internalize the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Supervises: Sacred Worship (Creative Worship) Support Staff
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
TEACHING AND ACADEMICS
- Teach and direct the Sacred Music (Creative Worship) courses, providing musical and spiritual instruction.
- Encourage students’ spiritual formation by fostering a culture of worship, prayer, and servant leadership.
- Recruit, audition, and mentor students for worship teams, helping them develop their musical gifts and leadership skills.
- Coordinate with the Daily Gathering Team and Campus Pastor to schedule, plan, and facilitate Praise and Prayer Daily Gatherings, as well as other campus-wide worship services.
- Oversee and implement weekly Praise and Prayer Gatherings, ensuring excellence in worship and engagement.
- Ensuring a high standard of musical excellence that fosters authentic praise and meaningful engagement in worship
- Coordinate with the Campus Pastor to schedule worship teams for partner school chapels and other off-campus worship opportunities.
- Evaluate and refine the Creative Worship curriculum to meet the evolving needs of the program.
- Create new learning opportunities related to worship arts as needed.
WORSHIP PRODUCTION AND PERFORMANCE
- Plan and execute worship elements for all chapels, special services, and school-wide worship events.
- Select and oversee the visual and musical components of all worship experiences, ensuring a cohesive and spiritually enriching environment.
- Conduct rehearsals and ensure that student teams are well-prepared for chapels and events.
- Collaborate with the Campus Pastor and other school leaders to ensure worship experiences align with the school’s theological framework, mission, and goals.
- Edit and prepare music and multimedia content as needed for worship services.
- Develop a culture of excellence and humility in worship, emphasizing both skill development and authentic worship.
PERSONNEL AND LEADERSHIP
- Mentor and disciple student worship leaders, helping them grow in their faith and leadership abilities.
- Provide regular feedback and guidance to student worship teams, fostering continuous improvement.
- Partner with area-specific leaders and faculty to identify and encourage student involvement in worship arts.
- Create and maintain a system for scheduling, communication, and preparation for all worship-related activities.
- Coordinate with students, families, and Performing Arts department members in scheduling and communication for events/productions.
BUDGET AND ADMINISTRATION
- Create and maintain the Creative Worship program budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
- Oversee program-related spending, approve requisitions, and track expenses.
- Work with the Campus Pastor and administrative teams to ensure alignment of worship activities with overall school objectives.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to promote worship events and highlight student participation.
- Stay informed about current trends in worship arts and incorporate best practices into the program.
- All other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, Performing Arts
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Worship Arts, Theology, or a related field.
- 3 - 4 years of experience; will include church worship, school worship, musical instruction, spiritual mentoring, or any combination thereof
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Worship Arts, Theology, or a related field.
- Experience in a high school or educational setting.
- Familiarity with Orange Lutheran’s mission, values, and Lutheran theological distinctiveness.
- Piano proficiency.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of worship theology and the ability to articulate the intersection of faith and worship.
- Strong understanding of LCMS Lutheran theology and practices.
- Experience with audio/visual technology and worship production
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in vocal and instrumental music
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to recruit, mentor, and develop student leaders.
- Ability to lead worship in a variety of styles.
