Job Summary
The Weekend RN Supervisor is responsible for overseeing nursing staff and ensuring quality patient care during weekend shifts. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with administrative duties to maintain a high standard of care, compliance with healthcare regulations, and effective team management.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision and Management
- Lead and support nursing staff during weekend shifts.
- Assign and monitor daily tasks to ensure appropriate staff coverage.
- Conduct rounds to assess patient care and address any issues.
- Patient Care
- Provide direct patient care as needed.
- Ensure care plans are followed and updated.
- Handle emergencies and critical care situations efficiently.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Conduct audits and report any discrepancies to the Director of Nursing.
- Team Leadership and Training
- Mentor and train nursing staff.
- Address staff concerns and provide conflict resolution.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for weekend staff.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Relay critical information to management and incoming shifts.
Qualifications
- Education: Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a clinical setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare systems.
