Randolph Technical Career Center is seeking a School Counselor for the position of Career and Technical Education School Counselor. RTCC is a full day Career and Technical Center where students gain technical skills, professional skills and academic skills.The Career and Technical Education School Counselor will strengthen and facilitate the educational process by providing continuity of care to students in Career and Technical Education programs; provide individual or group counseling to students in need; provide outreach to prospective students regarding Randolph Technical Career Center programs and college & career guidance to current students. The CTE School Counselor position includes:
- Work effectively with small and large groups of students to providing instruction on post-secondary opportunities, goal setting, application processes, and social and emotional skills.
- Assist students in defining and developing a personalized post-secondary plan
- Plan, organize, and implement counseling activities including student orientation, graduation, and student recruitment activities.
- Work with the career center director, staff, employers, community members, job service staff, and other training and placement sources to assist in the development of up-to-date career and technical education curriculum
- Represent the Randolph Technical Career Center to the community including the development and dissemination of all promotional materials about the center
- Develop relationships with every student at RTCC
- Assist with mediating disputes between students and students, students and parents, and students and teachers
- Utilize area support services for students and families
- Works to create and maintain relationships with RTCC alumni, creating and managing a database reflective of those relationships
- Supports teachers in collecting data on past RTCC alumni for six month and three year reports
- Creates, develops, and maintains positive, professional relationships with sending school counselors
- Designs, implements, and executes effective recruiting strategies, including the use of the marketing materials created by the RTCC
- Manages the application and admissions process, including the creation of a timeline for all aspects of that process
- Work with Support Team members to ensure that students with disabilities have success at the RTCC
- Organize Non-Traditional student exploration days
- Attends RTCC team meetings, State Guidance Coordinator meetings, and other meetings at the request of the Director
- Organizes student trips to college fairs and supports staff in organizing post-secondary recruiter visits to the RTCC
- Disseminates information regarding the financial aid and scholarship application process for college-bound and career bound senior students
- Attend IEP meetings, staff meetings and instructional support team meetings as needed.
- Lead recruitment, public relations, and marketing programs for the school
