The Specialized Career Instruction – Comprehensive program is an individualized job preparatory program which provides specialized career instruction in the areas of employability and career and technical skills. We are seeking two individuals to support adult students with disabilities in the postsecondary career and technical education classroom. Experience with persons with disabilities is preferred.
Location: Orange Technical College – West Campus, 2010 Ocoee Apopka Road, Ocoee, FL 34761
Days/Times: Monday through Friday, 7:45 am – 1 pm
Compensation: $15 an hour
Part-time hourly/no benefits
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Assists teachers in the supervision of learning activities in the CTE classroom and CTE lab, circulating within the classroom and lab, and providing learning support to students
- Ability to adapt learning and social activities to meet the needs of the person with disabilities in addition to their Section 504 plan
- Ability to demonstrate health and safety practices in the CTE classroom/lab
- Ability to address unexpected situations or embarrassing moments with a level head
- Ability to encourage students in the areas of self-advocacy and positive interpersonal skills
- Ability to show empathy
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues and authority figures
- Excellent customer service skills
- Use of person-first language
- Understanding of confidentiality
