JOB DESCRIPTION

Orange Tree Staffing is seeking Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teachers to "Build and Inspire Growth" by providing specialized education-based services to students at School for Advanced Studies Northwest Arkansas. As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, you will work collaboratively with students, parents, and other educators to create an inclusive learning environment that meets the unique needs of students with hearing impairments. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Deaf education, effective teaching strategies, and a commitment to fostering academic and social development. This position is currently seeking a DHH Teacher to conduct Hearing screening at the School Site.


RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Maintain all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
    • Provide specialized instruction and support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting curriculum and instructional strategies as needed.
    • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
    • Utilize American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-verbal techniques, or other communication methods based on students' needs.
    • Assess and monitor students' academic and social progress, adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.
    • Advocate for students by ensuring access to assistive technology, interpreters, and other necessary resources.
    • Provide training and consultation to school staff and families regarding best practices for supporting students with hearing impairments.
    • Maintain accurate and complete documentation as required by district policies.
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued and encouraged to succeed.
    • Attend all staff meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development sessions as required.
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community members.
    • Uphold a high level of ethical behavior and professionalism in all interactions.

REQUIREMENTS


    • Valid Special Education Hearing K-12 certification.
    • Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
    • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations related to special education.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
