What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health and Safety Program Coordinator position at Orange-Ulster BOCES?
As a key member of the Orange-Ulster BOCES team, the Health and Safety Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating workshops and training to keep districts current with changes in laws and regulations.
- The Health and Safety Program Coordinator will administer, interpret, update, and provide technical assistance with Federal, State, and local health and safety laws and regulations, as well as professional health, safety, and environmental associations and societies standards for all participating BOCES school districts.
- Responsibilities include developing and/or coordinating model plans for required health and safety, emergency, and other plans, as well as conducting or supervising environmental investigations and inspections, including air, water, and soil samplings on both a scheduled and emergency basis.
- The coordinator will also perform or supervise inspections of school district buildings to assess compliance with applicable NYSED Commissioner's regulations and NYS Fire and Building Codes and the risks of occupational exposure to asbestos, lead, PCBs, mold, radon, and other environmental hazards.
- Additional responsibilities include developing and monitoring budgets and service costs for the health and safety program, developing and maintaining an appropriate evaluation process for services provided, and assisting participating school districts with collecting data about condition of life-saving equipment on school premises.
Qualifications
Must meet Orange-County Civil Service requirements. While there is not a current list for this position, candidates must take Civil Service examination when given.
