General Description: The purpose of this job is to manage, coordinate, plan, and supervise the Customer Support Technician, Network Specialist Support Technician and the Service Helpdesk Support Technician operations and responsible for deploying and maintaining the data and communications network for the County. Recommend best practices for security, procedures and policies, patch management using PDQ Deploy and Smart Deploy software for imaging computers and laptops, to ensure the County is operating in compliance. Work with management team members to recommend software solutions, make sure we are secure and operating efficiently with the software.Under limited supervision, this position reports major activities through periodic meetings. This position reports directly to the IT Security Manager.Duties and Responsibilities: The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.• Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.• Manage the network including all cabling and appliances, manage all servers, workstations, printers and other peripherals.• Promote staff development through coursework, on-hands experience, and mentoring, manage response to customer requests, measure metrics of ticket responses to provide feedback for technicians, manage infrastructure from servers, routers, and switches to PCs, laptops, printers, copiers, and cell phones.• Provide support of the vehicle modems and wireless connections needed for remote access to employees• Plan for budget needs on an annual basis including operating and capital expenses/projects, strategic planning for proactive response to potential risks up to and including development of a three-year strategic plan.• Provides support for all mini-micro-computer hardware and software products.• Available 24/7 to coordinate emergency and/or service-related operations or issues that evolve during daily operations.• Installs and maintains WAN/LAN hardware.• Maintains current knowledge of computer operating systems.• Identifies and resolves computer/communication performance problems.• Provide after hours and ongoing support during regular business hours with Public Safety and the Detention Center One Solution application.• Coordinates the development and maintenance of the Department’s Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).• Oversees infrastructure projects;• Determines priorities and timelines;• Manages procurement, contracts and evaluation of IT products and services with the scope of responsibilities;• creates RFPs/RFIs for technology professional services and license contracts;• evaluates vendor performance; may initiate contract changes.• Performs other duties and related work as instructed and assigned.• Works nightly on-call and daily backup rotation once every 8 to 10 weeks.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent in information systems, computer science, or business administration.Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience with medium to large sized organizations (local government preferred) in the management, operation and development of information systems, technology planning, and technical project management.
